    May 16th.
    1943 Operation Chastise began, when No. 617 Squadron RAF began the famous Dambusters Raid, bombing the Möhne and Eder dams in the Ruhr valley with bouncing bombs after a previous lesser known attempt using rubber chickens failed.

        This day in 1920 Joan of Arc was canonized in Rome.

                    May 17th is the National Day of Norway. Its also Norwegian Children's Day when they can eat as much ice cream as they like!

                    1916 - the Daylight Saving Act (Summer time) was passed in Britain. - and we've been discussing its merits ever since!
