  • Biodynamic growing

    Has anyone tried Biodynamic growing?
Its based on lunar and planetary cycles for growing flowers/veg/seedlings etc.

In the Hinduism, it says that without the Moon there will be no life on Earth as no plants will grow.

Some interesting info about studies done on this is here: How does lunar planting work?

I will give it a go

If you search the forum (top of this page) for "biodynamic" you'll find lots of discussion about it - often "lively"
Here's a recent one to start you off..............http://www.growfruitandveg.co.uk/gra...out_87766.html

      Sorry.
I did search, and found nothing when looking for biodynamic.
But I just realised that my filter was set to find posts only 6months and newer.

I've tried planting by the moon but I'm not organised enough to follow a timetable, whatever it may be!

There's a new gardening almanac coming out this October by Lia Leendertz - I have a pre-ordered copy and will be giving it a bash next season...possibly.

I've also contributed to the publishing of this book, but I think the biodynamic bit will be small. Which to be honest suits me.

The whole cow guts and deer entrails bit seems too much of a faff. Pretty certain leaving offal lying out in the sun all summer is going to attract vermin, flies, etc. Not sure burying it is going to be any better.

                    Now that's surprising
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Is that the one where they cram crap into a cow's horn? Where they boil some putrid concoction and stir in a certain direction? Where they swing a chicken over their head while saying a weird prayer, er, uh, never mind that one. That's Voodoo.

To be fair, I don't think you've got the complete picture here.

There's the bit about leaving deer entrails hanging about all summer, burying them for winter then digging them up again.

Now I've got this going around my head

You could always move on to stuffing a pigs skull if the weather turns bad.

Or making your water more sticky by stiring it the other way round.
