A big thank you to Sam Williams who posted on the Facebook Allotment Growers UK forum, the idea of using Mosquito Nets to protect fruit on trees. At £3.99 each from ebay I now have an easy way of making sure I actually get some of the Cherries off my Cherry trees this year.

I thought I would share the idea here

Good idea. Also our Scottish members may want to buy one to wear in the garden.

But they might actually be able to wear shorts and a t shirt and get a tan with the first one Would wearing one of those disqualify them from WNGD?

Well, I've ordered white and red mosquito nets. ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO DO WITH SUNDERLAND - just to see if red nets help with fruit formation now the blossom has (hopefully) set. I'll try it on the apples too.

I would say YES to the WNGD but If they just wanted to take their top off to get a bite free tan there is always

Would they stop my pear tree gtting aphids or do they overwinter on the tree so are always there? Is a very good idea though!

I'm not sure about aphids as you would have to wait until after the fruit has set to put the nets on once the bees have done their work. I think that they overwinter as eggs on the plant.

When I were a kid (yawn) we used to have a mosquito net tent (ex-army) that we took on picnics to keep the gnats and wasps away while we ate and played.
One of those would make a great fruit cage
