  • Are PVC greenhouses any good , do they last?

Many seem to only have the option of PVC
My Eden 6x8 Greenhouse is 45 years old and the glass is as clear as when I bought it.
Well if I give it a wash it would be.
Will PVC be as good in 45 years.
Although I will be on the other side by then.
But would still be brassed off if it didn last.

    Thanks
    Jimmy

I've had my Norfolk greenhouse for 10 years now, and you can really tell The clear side walls are still clear, but getting brittle, the roof is that double walled polycarbonate stuff, and it has gone really hazy. I think it will be cheaper for me to replace the Norfolk with a glass one, than buy new plastic for it, so it may end up on the allotment soon, as it is beginning to look so tatty.

When I bought mine, plastic ones were a great deal cheaper than glass. Nowadays I don't think there is much difference if you search online for cheap offers on glass ones, or look in the DIY shed sales. That's what I did and got a bargain!

Wicks do translucent Proplex 2mm Correx Boards 1.2 x 2.4m for £4.40 each and if you buy 5 you get them at £3.95 each my local hardware shop and plumbers also sell them as they are put down for floor protection on construction sites.
