Just wondered if anyone has had issues when moving strawberry plants? I took a load up from one patch and put them into mine, watered them in and when I went back today they looked a bit worse for wear so gave them another soaking and now hoping for the best, is it normal for them to take a few days to perk back up?

Never had an issue moving strawberries. Just depends on a few factors such as how long they were dug out until they were put back into the new place. Was there enough root taken with plants. Also how they for were transported between the 2 separate places i.e. were the roots wrapped up to stop them drying out.
It has also been an extremely dry spring ( at least where I live) so they might have dried out. In saying that keep them well watered and fingers crossed. They should recoverGardening blog http://ploughyofurrow.blogspot.co.uk -

Thanks all, They were dug up and put back in the ground in around an hour and left on the grass path in the meantime.. will just keep well watered for the next few days and hope for the best, will keep you postedComment

We got 48 hrs of rain forecast on and off now so that should see them right while they settle in, my plots in a bit of a suntrap even on a cooler day so the ground can be quite dry, I will be trying to get more muck and compost down to try and make it easier to retain the moisture.. maybe even mulch it in the warmer months to stop it drying out as fastComment

Well I popped into the plot for 10 minutes on the way home and this last 24 hours of heavy rain has perked them right up, they are all stood back up again and blowing happily in the wind.. good news!Comment

Thats good news...for the strawberries not the weather !!! Just to make you feel better, we had one of the warmest days so far this year with uninterrupted sunshine and very little cloud in the sky. haha yes thats your summer now! hope you made the most of it lol, I put some of the same strawberries directly into compost pots at home and they did really well, was just the ones on the plot that seemed to struggle, I will check them again today and drown them again if needed while they settle there roots.. just pleased they perked up as I thought id killed them all lolOriginally posted by jasyk34 View PostComment
