  • Help with greenhouse identification.

    Hi all,

just wondering if i can get some help identifying a greenhouse that I'm now the proud owner of. Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

I really want to know the manufacturer so I can get a replacement roof vent, get it set up and get all the plants out of my kitchen .

I've looked around the frame and I can't see the name stamped anywhere on it. There looks like there was the manufactures name on it before, but it's rubbed off

    Thanks in advance

Your glazing clips look like these

Elite Greenhouse Glazing Spring Clips - North East Greenhouses

so it could be an Elite greenhouse.

      Thanks.

Are those types of clips specific to elites? I thought they were just "G" glazing clips, but I've only been looking at greenhouses for the last week or so, so could very much be wrong!

        Hi and welcome!
Many greenhouse makes are similar and have interchangeable parts. I assume you're looking for a replacement window. Do you have any of the fittings for it?

Hello and welcome. Agree with Thelma, The way the door fastens together looks the same as an Elite too.

All I have at the moment is some replacement perspex glazing and the fittings to attach them.

Excellent thanks, I've emailed Elite asking them if it is one of theirs or not.

If I can't get a positive id on it, does anyone have any experience of bodging a vent from another manufacturer onto it?

I think you can buy generic/universal openers.

Sorry, but I need to understand what you need - is it a window frame or a window opener? From the photo you don't have the window frame itself. these normally slide along the profile of the ridge of the greenhouse which acts as a hinge. You also need a window stay to keep it open - this has holes in it to adjust the size of the opening.

As an extra, you can buy automatic openers for these windows and they will work with most GH windows.

So, tell me again, what do you have and what do you need?

Hi sorry I should have been clearer. Apart from some extra plastic glazing I don't have any thing extra that what you see in the photos.

So from your description I think I need the window frame itself (from my googling I thought they were called vents) and a stay. It's good to know that that the they fit into the ridge of the greenhouse, I wondered how they attached. And I'll look into getting an automatic opener as well.

                  Thanks

                    Hi all,

so Elite have got back to me and it's not one of theirs :S. I've emailed a few other manufacturers to see if they can help but they've not got back to me.

If I can't get the manufacturer and therefor can't get a proper window frame, do people think maybe a generic louvre vent kit might work?

Your 3rd pictures shows part of the vent frame on the floor, have you looked through all the brash in & around to find all the bits.?

                        Hey,

yeah I had a good look around and the only thing I found that might have been part of it was that white bit of plastic :S. A lot of stuff was burned in the garden, so I think the previous owners got rid of a lot of their rubbish that way before they left.

Now Eden and Juliana have got back to me saying it isn't one of theirs, so it looks like I'm going to have to bodge something together myself.

Here's a copy of my gh instructions.

As well as a frame and stay etc, you'll need a vent trimmer, which the bottom of vent frame sits on.

The critical thing is the profile of the ridge bar. It may be that the extrusion is used by more than one manufacturer.

The generic louvre sounds a good work round.

I emailed around a few manufacturers to see if they could help id the ridge or let me know if their vents would fit, but no luck so far. I think the vent trimmer is still there actually, so one less thing I'll need lol.

I think I might end up with a louvre set like the below, rather than one that just comes with the sides. I think this has a better chance of keeping it all water tight etc.
