  • Raspberry Ruby Beaut, Ruby Falls and Blackberry Black Cascade

Hi. I wanted to ask if anyone had any of the following as I am considering getting some of each from T&M.

Other web companies seem to have their own versions but a slightly different name, essentially Ruby Beauty is a potted raspberry and the other two are hanging basket raspberries and blackberries.

My questions if you have any of them is how do you rate them as they aren't cheap as a blind purchase, are they easy to grow (what's your growing advice and how long have you had them) as well as how do they fruit?

    Thanks in advance

I started Ruby Beauty last year.

Purchased 3 plants from Marshals and planted them out late autumn gave up after 3 weeks or so they were definitely dead, the foliage had dropped off and they were just a small wooden stems.

Not to be beaten I purchased 3 more again from Marshalls, put them in 6" pots in the GH to give them a start.

The result is 6 good plants now in full leaf so I am expecting my first crop this year.

Don't believe it when they play dead, their faking.

I bought 5 ruby beauties in spring 2015, I got them from T&M under a tesco clubcard offer, I planted one plant each in their own 30l pot

In the first year I had no fruit but they did grow well

2nd year I had a modest crop the berry size was large and the taste very nice.

This year you can tell them are much stronger again so expecting a full crop this year

Ive also managed to multiply my stock from 5 to about 20 now.

This is a pic from spring last year, they are the shorter raspberries in the tubs

And again in summer last year

They are on my list of things I'm going to buy next payday. Blackberries and raspberries in hanging baskets would be a nice talking point if nothing else
