  • Back up tomato plants?

Does anyone grow back up plants ready to go outside when the others get blight? Would that work?

Once there are blight spores in the air (and on the soil) I don't think it is worth planting another lot tbh

No, I agree with Thelma. The new ones would get blighted very quickly too.

Do you have space on a sunny window sill to grow a couple of toms I usually leave one of mine in doors and it carries on producing toms until nearly Christmas.

If you have enough blight free growing space to grow back up plants 'til the others get blight, you may as well keep them in there 'til harvest!

Grow Mountain Magic or Crimson Crush as your backup?

But I concur why have backup, you might as well just grow them!

Only two of my plants had blight last year out of about 40,they were right next to my flowering currant. The year before that I had blight on a couple of tumbling tom plants on patio but no other plants affected. If you grow lots of plants in different places some will avoid blight (difficult on allotments where some people leave blighted plants on the plot, remove them straight away, the spores are like dust & will travel everywhere). If you cut down a blighted plant put the tools in a bag & don't use them on other plants till they're washed & wash hands or have some of that anti bacterial hand wash handy in the shed?

I do actually like to see out of a few of my windows, am I allowed to admit this?
