  • Is it too late to prune my apple trees? (Last years new growth)

    Good evening folks,
What I've got at the front of my house is a row of 3 mini apple trees.
I've got James grieves/discovery & falstaff all on M27 and all have been in the ground about 18 month.
I've got them growing along wires what I'm trying to do is create a living heage rather than espalier.

I did prune them all in the summer last year but while inspecting them this evening I have noticed a load of new growth I have missed. (I was incredibly busy with work so didn't get to spend much time in the garden back end of last summer) I still can't believe I have let this slip my me.

Anyway is it too late now to prune them now? (I would put up some pics but having trouble attaching photos)
    ATB
    Steve.

I believe you can prune them in Summer & Winter.

Should be fine, have at them. You can prune whenever you want, depending on what season you do it depends on how the tree reacts.

Well I pruned my trees this evening, may have lost a few fruit buds. But I've got the shape of my trees back
