  • My half plot

As a first time allotment tenant I thought I'd record progress here...

Forgot to take a photograph until I'd already weeded and added some lovely horse manure to what I think are blackcurrants, but this was my plot this morning...

and this is how I left it this afternoon...

Ignore everything behind the back of the shed, they are other plots, as is everything to the far right of the picture.

The big bed this side of the shed will have all of my veggies except asparagus which will be in the back right corner of the plot.

The dug over bed in the front right corner will have blackberries, gooseberries and rhubarb. Beyond that is a strawberry bed, then what I believe are raspberry canes (cut really short), then what I believe are blackcurrants. Behind that is my daughter's area which will have Brussel sprouts and purple flowers (apparently bees prefer purple to any other colour) and tucked in the corner behind that is the asparagus bed.

The string right at the bottom of the picture marks the path between my plot and the next one.

Welcome to the Grapevine it looks like you have taken on a good plot that does not need a great deal of work, nice photos keep them coming as you make progress, we like photos.

Just saw your list on another thread:

          "
Runner, broad and French beans, peas, 2 types of onions, leeks, 3 types of carrots, 2 types of kale, 2 types of cabbage, 2 types of Brussel sprouts, cauliflowers (if I can fit them in), salad leaves in hanging baskets, tomatoes, chillies, sweet peppers.

Braeburn apples, Victoria plums, crab apples, oranges and lemons.

Curly & flat leaf parsley, mint, rosemary, bay, oregano, thyme, basil."

Wow, that's going to be a squeeze!
