  • Do The Hierarchy Actually GYO?

It crossed my mind as to whether the powers above actually GYO or is it just a job that pays the bills. I think it would be beneficial if some of them became part of the community & contributed to the threads. I would also like to see some of the companies set up accounts & participate as Thomson & Morgan do..........what do you think?

I know there is a polytunnel company on here but I think I have only seen them post once. It would be lovely if hierarchy posted on here. I remember a chilli plant pic being posted, I think by Emily and it was lovely to not have the us and them divide. I am all for anyone joining even if it is just a job, maybe they can be converted. VC could come up with a challenge for them

Yes NG, I was going to mention the Poly Co but couldn't remember their name. There was also an "Expert" company I think called Carbon Gold or similar but their posts appeared to be self motivated.

I run an heavy metal/punk/ska conglomerate based in North Devon and am a frequent poster on this forum.

If I (could potentially be called out for) ran this forum I'd probably not want to get all the bad stuff that would flow my way whether by accident or design.
The mods sit in the middle for good reason I think.

For someone of an anarcho-syndicalist bent I end up propping up the powers that be far too often..

It's been a long time since I've read those words, Baldy.
I didn't think there were any of us still around.

I think no commercial interests is a good stance. Positive and negative comments about commercial companies can be posted and responded to without any concern over magazine advertising power. Is it not the case that T&M and the polytunnel co only post when invited to? Otherwise I don't think they have a place on The Vine other than in the advertising panels at the side.

I thought you were going to be calling on some of the so called celeb gardeners to contribute when I opened the thread. I do think it's a shame none of them even pop in occasionally.

PS. I just don't have enough time to say hello to everyone as they join so please take this as a delighted to see you here!

I'm on my allotment committee as the first step to a different sort of politics - maybe not, North Devon ain't much of a hotbed of revolution.

Anyhow with respect to marchogaeth I'm rather glad we don't get postings from celeb gardeners - I reckon it would quickly turn into self-promotion and so on - but otherwise I'm in agreement with the separation of the commercial from the forum posts.

I think Thomson & Morgan often do a search as they do address any buyer issues.......which can only benefit both parties.

There used to be a baldy fella with gold gigs, who's name I've forgot, who was editor or one of the editorial guys. He was deffo well into veg gardening and chooks and had some interesting posts. He then stopped posting!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order
to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)

Gigs are glasses to me but don't know this person so couldn't say

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

There has also been at least one case of somebody joining and posting once to say what a great company T&M are and then never posting again which looked very suspect to most of us
