Moldy Greenhouse
Evening all,
This is my first post after casually browsing for a few months now.
Last summer we purchased a small timber framed greenhouse (6.8x4.3). I would imagine the timber is pressure treated but it's not painted.
Over the past few weeks as the winter weather is upon us I've noticed a significant amount of condensation forming on the interior glass. I've also noticed water droplets running down into the corners now causing blue/black mold. I had few cuttings taken earlier in the year with white mold forming around the base the of plants. I've since removed these to prevent further infection.
Since these findings I tend to leave the door and vent ajarred to ensure good airflow and close it in the evenings. Despite these efforts this has not really helped.
This may be something I have to live with and in my case an aluminium GH may have been a better purchase.
I don't at present heat the GH, im not sure this would help with the condensation and mold (please correct me if I'm wrong). Treating the timber may be another option, is anyone aware of interior mold prevention treatments? (Ive read bleach can be used).
I should add I don't have any mains power in the GH so a dehumidifier may not be an option. I have however, installed a small SVC powered fan to help with circulation.
I'd really like to hear from anyone with similar mold issues and how they resolved/overcome the problem. I have to admit I don't like the idea of culturing mold where I grow crops, it may be something I have to accept whilst I wait for the warmer weather.
