  • Lidl Digital Themometer

I have purchased these historically for my greenhouse on Mill Green allotment and for the Space Saver greenhouse in my back garden.

I have one placed at the apex of the greenhouse with the outside sensor hung on the fence beside the greenhouse as a direct indoor out door comparison. They also record the highest and lowest temperature between manual resets.

Then I have cable tied one at the top and second tray levels in the middle and taken the external sensor to the side walls internally so I can see the temperature variation within the space saver greenhouse, as the sun travels across the front and the greenhouse goes back into shade.

They also provide me with information about where the hot spots are and how the reflectors at the back of the greenhouse affect the temperature

I'm going to purchase another five of these when they hit my local store between Thursday 12th - 18th January 2017 again, two more for the Space Saver and three for the new greenhouse for my Spencer Road Allotment.

Check on the Lidl website after selecting your local store to see when they are getting them if you want some.

I have 2 of those, side by side, in the kitchen with their dangly bit outside through the window. They don't agree by about 0.5 degree but its close enough for me.

I know, I was looking back at January for the last four years on my diary/ blog and saw that I had purchased them historically two years in a row in the middle of Jan so I have been keeping a look out for their re appearance.

Here is one to look out for in Aldi next year http://cadalot-allotment.blogspot.co...ot-holder.html

I've (at last) got my Raspberry Pi thermometers running reliably (I found an error with the FLOAT command which crashed the programme when the temperature was zero). I've got 10 detectors at various places in the polytunnel and greenhouses and create graphs of the temperature every minute. One thing I'm going to try this year is measuring the temperature inside the water butt in the polytunnel to see how that rises and falls with the sun and cold to see if it makes a difference to the temperature in the tunnel. My thought is if the temperature in the butt falls, it must be giving out heat so the temperature in the tunnel must be helped. I've tried before with a simple max/min thermometer but I couldn't work out the relative temperature of the tunnel and the butt.

I'll keep an eye out in Lidl, I pulled the end off the outside bit of mine and now I'm missing what temps we're having (compulsive weather noseyness isn't being fulfilled).

                  Hi Mark
What are you using to graph your results?
I've had my raspberry thermometer running fine but would like to graph it somewhere web-accessible for when I'm away - I can then call Mrs Balders and get her to open the GH doors or whatnot!
I can graph on my own pcs but fancy using something like
                  https://plot.ly/
that I can easily access when away - is that the sort of thing you've done?

Just to add - I got one of these today.

Looking good, but they could have supplied 'more' instructions.

                            Really easy to set.

Although it was too cold last night to try it outside.

They do record minus figures as well as positive and have a frost alert
