    Strange doggie antics

    Hollie (if you haven't come across her before, she's my avatar and a jack Russell poodle cross) has taken to hiding under my new sofa.

    She goes through under the back and stays for a while. The first time this happened I didn't realise it was her scratting about under me. Finally realised I hadn't seen her for a while. After calling her, her nose appears from under the front of the sofa but it's too low for her to get out that way. I try to persuade her to come out the way she went in. It didn't work so I had to lift the sofa up. I cannot believe how slow a dog can be, the sofa is heavy. She has now done this to me another 5 times.

    I'm now trying to work out a way of stopping her getting under there in the first place.

    Have you checked to see that no goodies are under there?

      I can only base this on cats... but if she can get under there she'll get out when she wants to - if she's only coming out when you lift it its because you're giving her no choice. As to why... I have no idea

      Could you use one of those sausage draught excluder things to keep her out? How big is the gap?

          My lot like going under the dresser - usually for balls that have rolled under it. They scrabble under and back out again.
          Bessie like to go under an armchair that has exposed stretchy wire springs. She rubs her back against them - like having a massage I suppose! Looks odd to see the seat of the chair moving - and even stranger when you're sitting in it!
