  • Hello Everyone:) I'm Back :)

    Hello everyone.

Long time no chat. I'm afraid to say I have looked in but not had chance to log on full and have a chat.

Well since last time I have spoken to everyone I have become a teaching assistant full time on a one to one basis and still doing my cleaning job at night. So am rushing about rather a lot. But teaching job is only temp until about May time so then I will be down the allotment full time again.

Down the allotment was a bumper year for spuds dug up 173lb in total. Runner beans were rubbish, broad beans were ok, carrots were a no no but best crop ever of beetroot. Going to get my New Zealand Yams and check on my artichokes soon.

Kids are fine. Hannah is now 9 going on at least 13 possibly 14 with attitude. William is doing great at school again.

So going off now to catch up on various threads

    Great to be back

Good to see you back here again. Glad things are good for you. Great crop of spuds you had. What variety?

I grew Sharps Express as a first early. Very disappointing as they just went to mush when cooked. Out of 15 seed potatoes I got just over 34lb.
Then Duke of York the white variety, grew them as a second early. Again a bit mushy when cooked. Out of 15 seed potatoes I got just over 35lb.
Then main crop I grew Carlingford. Were okay to cook with.
Wouldn't bother with these potatoes again though. Going back to Kestrel and Pentland Javelin.
