  • Know your (stored) onions!

Just a reminder to check stored onions and shallots. If they had any rots they'd be showing now. Plus if you have shallots they might be starting to grow again. At least one of mine appears to be a trier...

    Onion soup anyone?

We seperated out any that had tried to flower and used them first, dried the rest of them really well and now in the shed, bagged up...so far they are all still looking fine, fingers crossed....so far..
We had some in the cockaleekie tonight, the lot with the highland burgundy tatties in, soit looks like a pink/ red stew, very Michael Portillo..

If any of the stored onions look like they are starting to grow, you can chop them up and freeze them - they are fine used in cooking straight from frozen. I find I can usually separate out the amount I need after giving the bag a good bash.
