  • over wintering new strawberry plants

Just taken delivery of some new strawberry plants - but how do I look after them over winter?
My roof top garden will love them I'm sure and I'm looking forward to eating them next summer (if they survive of course).
    thanks guys and gals.

They are pretty tough plants - I don't really do anything to protect mine - maybe a bit of cover if it was going to get *really* cold - come early Spring you might want to cloche them if they are starting to flower and temps of -2 or lower are forecast.

Yes they are hardy. They grow like weeds in my garden, and survive the winter without any protection or special treatment. We generally have colder winters here than in the UK. Definitely colder than Devon.
