  • What raspberry variety?

I have a vigorous, summer-fruiting raspberry that should have been Glen Ample, but it is golden. I can't find any references to golden summer raspberries, only autumn varieties. Have I got a mutant? (It's delicious, btw.)

      Sounds like it!
If there are any (other ) yellow raspberry varieties, they're certainly not generally available for sale. Lucky you!

        When did you prune it?
Could it be All Gold which the RHS say can crop from July to Autumn? Or Yellow Sugana which can also crop twice a year.

Thanks for your replies - I've had these canes for a good few years and they don't fruit in autumn at all. I left them for one whole season (no pruning) to check that they weren't primocanes but they only fruit in June and July. The fruit are small but incredibly sweet and they are quite plentiful. The canes go mad, though - 6ft tall and they sucker all over the place! The great thing is that the birds think they are unripe so they leave them alone. Perhaps I should name them myself...

I'm sure I'm teaching my granny to suck eggs here but if you don't cut your Autumn ones to ground level in the Winter (just give them a light trim), you will get 2 crops the following year, once the Summer ones have finished I then cut out the old wood ready for the Autumn crop.
