  • Spacing for fruiting spurs on a grape vine.

Hello, I have a Black Hamburg vine in my greenhouse which I planted in 1987. I have had various growing systems with it...along the ridge...along the eves and two years ago decided to have it as a fan at the end of the glass house. I decided this time to use the 'Rod and Spur' pruning method. I cannot find any information on how far apart to have the fruiting spurs! Someone suggested 12 to 18 inches apart, does anybody on here know differently??

I am reading up on this to have a vine in my new greenhouse, I think 18 inches seems to be the common advice, Victoriana nursery site has a lot of good looking advice and vines, that's who I plan to buy from.

Keep in touch Bill and let me know how it goes, I noticed a vine in a garden in our village, so I'll be picking their brains for advice too.
