  • Early Autumm -Really !!!!

I've been getting met office yellow warning for a couple of days then I saw this about the storms heading to us for Friday night Saturday morning Storm to batter Britain: 1,500-mile-wide Atlantic storm will bring early autumn to Britain as 55mph winds and rain expected

"The sudden change in weather signals the start of an “early autumn”, experts claimed, with heavy, blustery showers expected and up to 20mm of rain falling in places."

I have a problem with that because I'm and structural engineer

Is the he cup is half full or half empty?

Well it's both if its 50% of the volume

I had not seen anything about hot weather returning after the storm ...

Unless it's in a vacuum then it's always 100 percent full - just that part of it is full of air.

All I know is that our local weather reports are very rarely right. According to the BBC weather for our postcode, we were meant to have a heat wave on Monday - it was warm but heat wave it was not. I was glad they got that wrong but shows that their reports are pretty useless.

It is more useful for me to stick my head out of the window each morning and make a guess based on what the sky looks like

I have said it before and I'll say it again "Next time round I intend to be a weather forecaster, seems to me its the only job where you can be ....................100% wrong ................100% of the time ........ and not get the tin tack."

My French beans and runner beans have already decided it's late in the year and stopped making beans.
So I've got nothing to lose, whatever the weather brings *wry smile*
Hopefully we'll have a bit more warm weather, but it's been 'a funny old year for weather' as my Dad always said

I think I'll just go by what Penellype says....far more reliable than most 'professional' forecasters.

Out with Toby dog, just about managed to dodge a really sharp downpour ...... it didn't really feel cold though, strangely enough - I was rather warm in my waterproof ..!

Checked temp at 7.30 this morning in GH and it was reading 16.8, yes, a lot lot lower than in recent days (was up at 40c in the week ...) - hope blight isn't going to be an issue now - as managed to dodge it - so far...

I absolutely refuse to allow it be Autumn - just yet ...............
