I am not sure what it is in the greenhouse but the other day I seen something under the black plastic move.(Part of it is covering the soil in the greenhouse and runs up the wall) Don't ask why it's the previous guy who had the allotment who done it.

Anyway, for the past few days I have noticed planted in pots being knocked over and didn't think anything of it until I seen something move under the black plastic and today some wood has been moved.

There is not droppings from it in the greenhouse. How do I get it out the greenhouse?

Could be something coming up through a tunnel in the ground.
    Slow worm perhaps.
Could be rat coming up to see if there is anything worth nibbling,
Or even a harmless grass snake ?

I have not seen anything being nibbled. I am to scared to find out what it is. I don't want to move things to find out where it's getting in.

My have to get the OH to find out for me.

It could be a toad/ or frog if it is moist under the plastic. I would be a wuss too it was me. I would get a long cane, be close to the door and make a lot of noise and eventually I would find out. If it is rat or mouse it is not likely to stick around whilst you are about. If it does then you really do have an issue but if you can't see any droppings...............

            Go for it

Think I will get the OH to go and sort it out. I am a wuss and would run and scream like I am being murdered if I seen a rat/mouse.

May have to borrow VC's pointy sticky

Rats love black plastic covering the ground...If you whip it up quick you may get to see some lovely little babies under there they make tunnels and nests and love the warmth.

Could be a mole, throwing up soil under the plastic? or a vole or mouse. I often get them in the GH. they're more scared of you, honestly!

I have a mouse that keeps coming to live either on or under my potting table. I make a lot of banging and it scurries off. I have told it next time I see it I'll set the kids on it.

Was thinking if you want to see if it is a mouse or a rat get a bucket, try and find a metal one, put some food in the bottom of it. Try and create a some steps up to the bucket but do it so the furry climbs up the steps and then falls into the bucket but can't get out. It will be ok over night with the food in the bottom of the bucket to keep it going.
I only know this works as when I was at school the class hamster escaped and the caretaker caught it using this method.
