Received my annual renewal notice over the weekend as usual with a ridiculously high quote and a notice of automatic renewal.

As usual I rang gave my details and explained to the lady that what I was about to say was not directed at her personally.

I told her that they must never automatically renew my policy and further more I would not be paying the figure £645-71p quoted. Last year after the same type of phone call it came in at £479-09p.

After confirming nothing had changed since last year she said she would check todays rates to see what she could offer. "Oh good" said I "You always check 'todays rates' and they always seem to less expensive than 'yesterdays rates'.

Sure enough she came back with a much improved quote £418-57p.

Always ring and check my friends it is worth lots of money.

I spent hours online afew months back trying to get some "reasonable" quotes for my car insurance which included my boys as additional drivers. Total waste of time...they were so expensive. I always shop around but actually calling them made a difference.

So they're allowed to quote whatever they like,£200+ more than necessary,it's a gamble isn't it & they're thieving off anyone they can in my eyes. Shouldn't there be more control over what they're playing at? How many people don't complain & just pay it?

I don't understand the car insurance business at all. Not so long ago I thought I would save money on an old car by just getting third party insurance. It turned out to be more expensive than the fully comp quote I started with. So now we just ring up and complain when the renewal quote goes up and they bring it back down again.

Well my car was newish so I assumed putting two 17years on the OHs older car would prove to be cheaper. It wasn't! When I called to discuss the quotes their reasoning was that if the car was old and not worth much they were more likely not to worry about bumping it especially if it was third party only.

#3 How many people don't even read the figures, let the automatic renewal go ahead and then get a shock when they receive their card bill.........
