  • Anyone here tried 'Dundoo' courgettes?

I've grown two courgettes 'Dundoo' from T&M 'D*chy *riginals'...

But they are not courgettes at all, they are clearly some kind of squash or pumpkin, trailing along the ground and setting spherical yellow fruit...

Anyone else tried this variety and got courgettes?

Ok I had never heard of them so had a google and your description doesn't match T+Ms. Courgette 'Dundoo' F1 Hybrid - Duchy Originals Organic Seeds - Pumpkin, Squash & Courgette Seeds - Thompson & Morgan

I would e-mail T+M with some pics. Failing that if a kind Mod stuck T+M in the thread title it might get picked up by one of their advisors.

      On a different note (sorry)
I thought 'Organic' companies shunned F1 hybrids?

          @bario1

I am sorry to hear that you have had problems with our Courgette 'Dundoo' variety. We should be in touch shortly with a response to your email.

However, if you would like to reply with your 'TM' reference number from our auto-reply, I will be happy to look in to this for you.

          Kind regards,

They're refunding me the £3.99 (that's the closest smiley I can find to 'stingy face').

Wonder whether this is a known problem with these seeds? I've never heard of Dundoo before but don't think I'll risk them now.
Very disappointing for you, bario, when you sow and grow a courgette and, when it fruits, find its summat else entirely.

Hi Ryan, has anyone else had problems with Dundoo turning out to be something different?

Luckily I also grew my 'go to' courgette 'Defender', so I'm not courgettless. And I will watch with interest to see what 'Dundoo' turns out to be!

                        Hi,

Sorry again for the disappointment! I think that this is down to a fill error as we have machines which pack our seeds. It is very rare and we regularly test our seeds for germination rates etc.

Do you still have the packet with the LOT or Batch No. so that we can investigate further? I’m sure you were asked via email but just in case, this info would be very useful.

Hope that the rest of your veg were exactly as expected or even better..

                        Kind regards,
                        Anne

I can't remember whether I sowed all the seeds or not, I might still have the packet if not. I'll have a look when I get home tonight.

That's a result, I complained to another seed company about exceptionally poor germination and they barred me from any future online sales and refused to refund me!!!
