    Sweet peas.. You may want this variety.

    Sweet pea officiianados will probably know of this sweet pea, however....
    I have mediocre sweet pea success usually but this year I grew a real show stopper.
    It's Suttons Seeds and called "High Scent". (That is its name). The packet states very high scent. It's a cream/white with a lavender dusted edge. I cut it back as a very young plant twice, The result.. Incredibly strong growth masses and masses of very highly scented blooms with up to 18" stems. I've been picking huge bunches every few days from quite a small stock of plants? The lavender edge is more prevelent in some flowers.
    Just thought it was worth passing on. It's absolutely gorgeous.

      I only have success with red sweetpeas.

      In a mixed packet....I only get red ones grow...year after year.
      This year I sowed individual coloured packets; white ones, mauves and a pastel mix...no reds.

      Turns out that for me, no reds means no sweetpeas.
      Its very strange.

        It's my favourite too. Nice flowers, great scent and good cutting length for putting in vases. I try growing2-3 varieties a year and nothing has yet come close. I'm growing cupani this year and though the scent is as good and it's nice to grow an something so old...its just too short to stick in a vase and it makes it harder to deadhead too.

          Generally accepted as being the most highly scented sweet pea of all. Always first on my sweet pea seed list.

            Thanks for sharing!

            I have very, very little success with sweet peas- absolutely nothing germinated this year- no idea if they rotted or were eaten....I'll certainly look out for those seeds in future though ( maybe germinating indoors is the answer for me????)

              I grew it a few years ago and personally found it rather over scented although the flowers are pretty. My favourites tend to be the simpler old fashioned versions but I am quite simple and old fashioned

              Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

              Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                Have you ever tried 'Purple Pimpernel'. That's a real beauty.

                  Don't know that one, it does look pretty and quite similar to Matucana which I always grow amongst my beans. Tend to buy my sweet peas from Kings and although they do loads of varieties thy don't do Purple a Pimpernel which is probably why I've not come across it.

                    Thanks for sharing. I am usually successful with sweet peas, Mr Bee says plants and seeds are too scared of me not to grow and grow well, but I am always on the lookout for really scented varieties.

                    My garden is highly scented in the summer with the lillies, gardenias, trachelospermum jasminoides, nicotiana and the sweet peas.
