We have all done that. If you catch it in time, stick the base of the pan in a sink full of cold water or get it into ug ASAP and use a stick blender on it. These can rescue a lumpy egg custard base.
I found a gorgeous recipe for saffron Easter bread in a magazine. It was incredibly addictive. I can let you have it if you want. I can email it as an attachment. XComment
