  • Recommend me a label maker please

    Hi all,

I've decided to 'treat' myself to a label maker - purely because it will be useful for the house move as well as plant things you understand

Can anybody give me a recommendation?

It doesnt have to be anything fancy - ideally something where the labels will last outside in the good old yorkshire weather, but will also stick to cardboard boxes. Also if the tapes are relatively cheap / easy (prob @mazon!) to replace

    Thanks all

I'd recommend one of the brother p touch range (which is the one you have seen us all mention on here). Most of them will do the same job (some have fancy characters etc) but they all print a-z and 0-9 plus the normal characters.

A quick Google of "brother p touch" brings up this which seems a good price:

Buy Brother PT-80 Label Printer at Argos.co.uk - Your Online Shop for Home office, Limited stock Technology, Office supplies.

The tapes are UV stable so don't fade in the sunlight and you can get third party tapes for less and in lots of different colors.

Have a Google and see if you can find one you like or check out the range here:

Another vote for the Brother P-Touch but don't pay through the nose for the green gardening one Alans Allotment: Brother P-Touch Label Maker
There are also cheaper tapes than the Brother Original

I recently got a Brother P-touch P700 which links up with a PC or Mac to replace old one. Haven't mastered their Editor yet.

The laminated labels are very durable. I've had some submerged in the pond for over a year and they are still perfect.
