  • carrot foliage changing colour???

hi, most of my carrots look great but i've got an odd 1 or 2 where the foliage has turned a browny/purple colour although it showing no other signs of deterioration other than changing colour, is the something wrong with that carrot and should i pull it up before it affect anymore?
    thanks

Sounds like either aphids or carrot fly.

I can't see any aphids so if I assume it's carrot fly should I pull the odd carrot out that has been affected or am I now fighting a losing battle?, they are in high tubs and I've never had carrot fly before?

Sounds like carrot fly to me.

I look forward to the advice of clever grapes as to whether pulling the affected roots, or the whole lot is the best course of action.

I had some that went like that the year before last. They were new seed but an old variety (Spanish Black). Those particular carrots were woody and a different colour rather than plagued with pests. The rest were gorgeous. If I were you, I'd pull those ones out and inspect them to see what you find.

I was tolled a few years ago the redy brown foliage was root fly,i have also known the foliage to go like that as the season comes to an end,so i wonder if the weather has a part in it,and not the bugs,we have had some variations of weather all at the same time, hot then cold and windy ext,if we notice the difference then the plants must, see if you can pull up a small bunch around the worst area to have a look at the roots themselves
