  • Stella sweet cherry

For the 5th year now my fan trained tree has failed.. it has dropped 90% of the fruit. before they dropped the cherries went a dull yellow brown.
I am at a lose as to what to do about this. the tree is about 7 years old.
I said that if it dropped its fruit this year i would chop it down; i do not really want to do this, any solution/suggestion might help.
You grow it; I'l tell you how to cook it

I have had mine for over 10yrs and after giving some cherries last year it has finally started to produce, with nearly 100 fruit (I will have to shield them from the birds) and we are now looking forward to cropping each year, hopefully....

I've got the same problem although my tree is younger. I've read that they start to crop better from 5 years of age but Ken's is already in that age range. I've also read that they benefit from a potash fertiliser which I've yet to use but hopefully next year it will make a difference to my tree. I have a fallback though and that is a grove of cherry trees in a near by public wood so I'll go and pick those when they are ripe.
