  • Pepper droop!

    Hello!

I'm new to this forum and new to vegetable growing this year....so this is likely to be the first of various idiot-level questions!

We have a greenhouse a sizeable veg plot so have been trying to grow various things. We went away for a few days recently so I moved my peppers (Romano mixed) outside the greenhouse given that I wasnt sure who I could get to water them. It was very wet whilst we're away and I came back last night and the leaves on most of the plants are drooping. Is this because they've had too much rain? Is there anything which I should about it, apart from put them back in the greenhouse?
    Thanks

    Adam

Welcome to the vine. Never be afraid of as you put it "idiot level questions" we all have to learn. I would think that the leaves on your peppers are drooping because they are too wet. Move them inside and let them dry out and they should be fine. I had to move all my small pots under cover because they were getting waterlogged. This is supposed to be summer!!!

First welcome, and yes I think Roitelet is right, most of my containers are to wet despite excellent drainage.

Hi Adam. Welcome. Ask away. There's no question too daft when you're learning.

Thanks for the replies and all the welcomes! Much appreciated

After the best part of 24 hours back in the greenhouse, the pepper plants seem a bit more perky this afternoon with leaves more or less back to normal, so think you were all right! Now just need to encourage them to grow a bit quicker....!

            Thanks again

I like to keep mine in the greenhouse as our summers are usually defined by how warm the rain is, that way we get good crops even when the sun forgets to turn up except occasionally showing its face..
