  • Just got cheapo (but yellowing) broccoli plants, what to do to help them?

Figured I'd give these a chance as they were on the death row stand and they didn't look too drastic.

The leaves are turning yellow. What should I be doing to make them healthier?

Its the seed leaves that are yellowing...they're supposed to do that! So you've got yourself a bargain!

Give the plants a good watering.
Check to see if roots are starting to poke out of the drainage holes.
If they are, gently seperate the plants and pot them on individually.
Keep them somewhere nice and light, they're a bit leggy where they've been kept too long in dark or artificial light.

They will need hardening off before going outside.

Oh that's good news. Thanks muddled.

I got a rhododendron plant off death row the other day too, it was quite big with 5 large 'heads' on it and it was only £4. Same size plants were between £8-£12. It was in perfect condition so I suspect it was a mistake. It's now very happy in a large pot in my garden.

Have you put it in ericaceous compost?
If not, it won't stay happy for very long!

          Yes.

I have other rhodies already so I'm familiar with them.

I would say water, bit more depth of compost and a feed.
