  • Ooh the excitement

I realise it's nothing to everyone else but these are the first things I've ever planted to eat where I actually tried to grow something.
I shoved a sod in the ground years ago and we get them but four years the wife wouldn't eat them cause they "come out of the ground"

    Anyway.....Calabrese...

I think you will find most of us still get very excited when things germinate
I think that's why I like courgettes/ pumpkins & squashes so much because you can almost watch them little fellas growing ( into very big fellas )

It does make me wonder where people think veg comes from, if they won't eat it cos it comes 'out of the ground'

Let's hope yr Mrs doesn't know where manure comes from!!!!

Well done on the seedlings- very rewarding to see them popping up their heads isn't it????

I would have said that I think of them as if they are underwater swimmers holding their breath and desperately wanting to come up for air.
Some can 'hold their breath' longer than others....and some just can't make it.

but then I'd better not - cos you might think I'm another one of the nutters on here....

My family are weird, they will happily eat the spuds, but they're funny about the salads. I think it's because they see the leaves that the slugs have been on and eating, whereas they don't see the dodgy spuds I chuck.

We had chooks for a few years, it took her months to eat an egg and when I got a couple of birds ready for the pot she wouldn't let me bring them in the house because she "knew them".
