    Tempted to move the toms to the unheated greenhouse- advice!

    I have got all my tomatoes on the lounge windowsill and they are getting leggy and are none too happy. I am considering moving them down to the greenhouse at the allotment in the next few days and planting them deep in the border.

    The forecast is improving all week and I have got some tomatoes coming up on there own in last years tomato greenhouse which have survived the last weeks abysmal temperatures so I am wondering if I dare!

    In previous years I have used candles under upturned terracotta pots on colder nights. No staging and nothing to catch fire in the greenhouse and I do have a paraffin greenhouse heater somewhere but I don't trust it.

    As an alternative to heating I have yards of fleece.

    Should I risk it..............

      All of mine have been in the GH for weeks and survived!

        Lot of difference between Yorkshire and South Wales, I would wait a day or two to make sure the forecast is correct.

          Forecast for here is min 8c at night for next couple weeks, if yours is similar, I would go for it. Make sure you have some fleece on standby in case it drops again.

            Met says mine are similar, and shows a min of 7 on the chart, but then spoils it all by adding
            This Evening and Tonight:

            Skies should remain largely clear overnight, which when coupled with light winds will allow temperatures to dip, perhaps leading to a touch of grass frost in one or two rural spots. Minimum Temperature 3 °C.

              That's what I read too Thelma I think I'm going to fleece my toms tonight and just bring in the chillies. Everything is getting a bit big and my boys are so fed up with carrying things in for the evening it would be good if I could leave them there for the night.

                Half of my toms have been in the G/H for a week and are ok.so the other half have gone out today.
                will still fleece them for a few nights.

                  Last night our min temp was only 3.1c so I won't be leaving anything tender out yet.
                  Location....East Midlands.

                    I'm in rural mid wales and mine have been in an unheated GH for the last 5 days,but I fleece them at night
