    Cordless mower?

    just spotted a cordless mower and strimmer will be in Lidl on Thurs. Am in the market for one/both as my push mower is not coping with the lotti! Anyone used a cordless mower/strimmer - any thoughts? Also if any good, would I be better with a strimmer or a mower for the lottie?

    I suppose it depends on how much ya got to cut.
    Strimmers are more versatile

      I have a strimmer for the allotment and once the rough grass from over the winter is tamed, I use the push mower to cut the paths. Have you tried raising the blades on your push mower? I often see folks huffing and puffing with the allotment mower trying to cut long grass with the blades set down to bowling green level. Once the blades are lifted high, the push mower is able to cope quite well.

        The blades are definitely not on the lowest setting on the push mower, but I might just give it a check to see if they can come up any more! It does an OK job once the grass is short, but if we go on hols or anything it struggles to cope when we get back and the grass has inevitably shot up to triffid length. Might give the cordless strimmer a go then and persevere with the push mower!

          I bought their cordless strimmer last year & it's brilliant, the downside is you only get around 30 mins running time before the battery needs recharging. I was very fortunate in that I broke mine after about 3 goes, I hit a brick. After contacting the after sales service, I explained exactly what I did & was willing to pay for any repairs or parts, they sent me a brand new machine & told me to dispose of the broken one so I ended up with spare battery, blades & charger...............fantastic customer service.

            I have a mate who uses a Makita cordless not cheap but very good. He is lucky being a builder he has a lot of power tools and therefore many batteries.
            Potty by name Potty by nature.

              Thanks all, really useful! Going to get the strimmer and see how I get on. It's not too pricey and if it ends up helping us to keep some of the chaos at bay it will be well worth it!

                Pick up some spare blades if you can. They didn't have any when I bought mine.............
