  • Grapes!

    Morning!

Am pondering getting a couple of grapevines for the lottie. Want them for eating rather than wine making and they would have to be outside (no polytunnel/greenhouse). Do you think this is doable in Kent? Am I likely to get anything edible off them?
    Thanks!

If your in Kent you have more chance with an outdoor dessert grape than most places in Britain. You will still need to find a warm sheltered spot for it and most importantly get a variety that will ripen in a british summer. I'm sure most of the nurseries that supply grapes can recommend varieties for you part of the world.

It's doable. I inherited a grapevine with my plot last year, and managed to try a few of the grapes before they all turned rotten. They were very nice, but with large pips. Haven't a clue what variety they were, but I had Black Hamburg suggested, so maybe that's a starting point for you?
