  • Spring is sprung

    Hi there

Was on my plot this afternoon and planted 2 rows of earlies, did my usual plot inspection looking for any problems like that pesky mole returning for another go at my plot.

Spotted the first spear emerging on one of my 2 rows of Asparagus which is a good indication that the soils warming up ..... slightly. Just hope the rest decide to make an appearance.

I agree spring has (or is well on its way) sprung. I didn't have my coat done up today

That Mother Nature. Had to get up early to sort out a singing chicken and there was a proper frost (showing 2C on the outdoor thermometer). Broad bean leaves looking a smidge blackened. Can't turn your back for 1 minute!

It's certainly trying to spring, but temp is running about 2C below average for the time of year.

There was another hard frost last night!

I'm pretty sure I saw our first swallows today.

They whizzed past as I was driving and I couldn't take a double look at them without risking an accident.
                Pretty sure they were though!

It was a lovely morning here once the frost had cleared. Down the allotment there were lots of bees and smaller insects. There were three butterflies too: a small tortoiseshell, a peacock and a small white. All very springlike.
