  • Hello from wellington Somerset

    Hello
I am pleased to have come across this web site, I am fairly new to gardening (well veg growing) and will be in need of advice, at the moment I have a very small plot and grow container veg , I would really love an allotment but there is long waiting list for the one near me, I don't mind a 5 mile radius so I shall carry on looking

Thanks for the welcome. So far I have planted in containers Lettuce, Kale, spinach, potatoes, carrots and several herbs, we have started a compost heap which we have made with pallets, we will also make a raised bed as soon as we can, but we Don't have much room so fingers crossed for a allotment

Hello SF and welcome to the Vine.

Like you I have a very iddy biddy garden and have to continually think 'outside' the box to find room for anything.

This site is brilliant for all kinds of advice and it is more than happy to let you share your knowledge to enhance us all.

Oh and VC is so nosy she will be asking for photo's soon!

Hi Sue and welcome, it's amazing what you can grow in containers and hanging baskets are great for tomatoes.

I waited 3+ years for an allotment, and hadn't got a clue, learnt it as I went along. But do keep on nagging your council or whoever about getting an allotment, there are always neglected ones, so if you spot one, it's definitely worth bringing it to their attention!
