Definitely the end of an era. All that wonderful gentle yet hilarious comedy. Nothing like it today. Very sad.

A sad loss. I didn't know him, but he seemed a genuinely warm and good-hearted person.

He brings back happy childhood memories. We saw him play in a pro celebrity golf show the BBC used to do, he had such a natural sparkling personality, even as a kid I could see that as we followed him round the course. International Pro-Celebrity Golf - BBC Two England - 22 February 1981 - BBC Genome My brother found a frog and put it on one of the greens, it caused such hilarity, but they cut that from the tv show.
