  • What tomato variety?

In the 60's and early 70's my Mum bought tomatoes from the market hall in Derby. They were very sweet, red and had fluffy/hairy skins. My husband remembers them in Burton on Trent and also in Clay Cross. They would have been cheap. I have never seen them since and would like to find out the variety so I can grow them. Does anyone have any ideas?

Sweet and fluffy - are you sure they weren't peaches?
What do you get if you divide the circumference of a pumpkin by its diameter?
    Pumpkin pi.

Hi and welcome to the vine

cheap furry toms - were they past their best?
I only know of one fuzzy tom and it is yellow (garden peach tomato) but least you know that fuzzy skins do exist today

Peach like skin. They were never available for long but absolutely the best I have ever tasted! I always get odd looks when I say fluffy tomatoes!

Theres a variety called Peachblo, sometimes also called Peach Blow that might be the one you were thinking of.
