Aren't most house plants hybrids of wild plants?
    Zantedeschia
    Gloxinia
    Amaryllis
    Hibiscus
    Schlumbergera (Christmas cactus)

Well Ive got a few down but the boss says it should really have a x in it like they do with out door plants eg: hydrangea x semiola but when I have been looking them up I am getting stuff like coleus blumei hybrids but he said the hybrid should have a name... But I thought if it has a name that someone has given it but I thought it would be the blumei? or the x is just an abbreviation for hybrid?

I get really confused on hybrids.
Ive looked at the plants we have in the shop but most just have the genius name or mixed foliage nothing that would give me a clue to what a hybrid would be?

There's zillions Evans, just type the name of a houseplant into goggle, and add an x, like this -

          begonia x

and a list of hybrids usually appears in the goggle drop-down search box.

OK. Coleus blumei is one species of coleus

To get a hybrid you cross it with another species of coleus, for example coleus frederici (I'm picking names off the internet here, I'm not that clever that I know this stuff by heart)
to get - Coleus blumei x Coleus frederici or as you usually see it - Coleus blumei x frederici

Coleus is the genus name, they are both coleus, but different species of coleus.

This table is rather large, but it's well explained. If you read through it, it will make clear (I hope) how plants are named.
If it looks like too much to read, scroll down to where it says GENUS in the left hand column and read from there. HTH
