        Are they in a propagator/on a heated mat ?

In my experience they like warmth to germinate reliably. Above a radiator or in an airing cupboard starts them off in just a few days, then grow them on in cooler conditions (frost free is fine).

I suggest trying again in March, I don't see much advantage in starting them now the light levels are so low.

It's strange int it? I sometime soak them overnight but otherwise I just put them straight in compost. No heat or anything, they are outside now. Maybe I'm just lucky looking at the other replies.

I always have problems when I sow direct in a tub.
Not sure if they rot or the mice get to them.
I soaked perennial sweet peas last year and then planted out and they too died.
I think I must be jinxed!

First time sowing at this time of the year and thy are doing so well.
I think I sowed them in October, one seed per module In the cold greenhouse.
                          They are still under cover.
I will post a pic tomorrow.

you may well have tried this, but I will suggest it anyway, useing a saucer or shallow container place a seed/seeds on sheets of damp kitchen roll, cover with more damp kitchen roll, I generaly place this on the kitchen window sill, and keep moist till seeds germinate then plant in compost
it may be a struggle to reach the top, but once your over the hill your problems start.

Hi i do as RARY above i put my seeds in a plastic containerabout 6 inch square ,out of this years pods
and left em in shed on lottie and after 3 week they were all chitting with the little white tail on.

So i took em home last week and put em on some kitchen roll on kitchen top and dampened and within 3 days they started to go furry like mold.

SO I THINK IF I HAD BROUGHT THEM UP FROM LOTTIE WHEN THEY WERE CHITTING AND PUT THEM INTO COMPOST ALL WAS OK SO I CLEANED THEM AND WILL POT THEM TOMMOZ.

HOPE IT HELPS sorry about caps
