  • best place to buy herbs online

    I grow many herbs
But some Indian spices for curries I buy in.
Any good sites that sell "small" quantities cheap ?
I usually have to buy a ton of some spice and it don't keep for long.
    eBay looks quite expensive!

    Thanks
    Jimmy

Not sure what you want, Jimmy
    Herbs or Spices?
To grow or ready to use?
    Give us some examples please

Say coriander seeds or turmeric powder to buy to make a curry.

I once grew some "Dorset Naga" seeds I got off ebay.
They grew well in my Green House.
        Small innocuous looking round chilies
I gave some to my friend and he passed them on to his Wife.
She used 3 in a Chilli con carne for their bonfire night party.
He told me no one could eat it !

Jimmy, you can buy those kind of spices in any supermarket or Indian or Chinese shops.

Yes but usually huge packs quite costly.
            I need small packs cheapo.

Indian and chinese shops are usually quite reasonable. However more and more supermarkets have sections dedicated to cater for different cultures for ex. tessico Indus Turmeric (Haldi) Powder 400G - Groceries - Tesco Groceries vs the norm silly little jars Tesco Ground Turmeric 45G - Groceries - Tesco Groceries

Is there no-one you can split packs with to help reduce wastage?

                Under a quid sounds good.
But why do I need 400g Turmeric at £1.99
                40g at 19p would be good !

Oh you are after that 'what customers really want' rather than the being told 'this is what customers want'. We can all dream of an ideal world, unfortunately it don't exist I don't know what @ldi and l-dl are like for herb and spice prices, hopefully another grape will say.

I was on holiday in Ulverston and the health food shop sold spices. I got a few grams of Smoked Paprika for next to nothing.

This is one of my pet rants, mainly on real ale.
There are many beers I used to like (like Boddies) but the big brewers

                      • Keep the name
                      • Move the brewery
                      • Change to cheapo ingredients
                      • Drop the strength
                      • Increase the price
                      • Advertise heavy
                      • Ruin the product.

I know there's a shop (Single Step) in Lancaster sells loose spices, I used to go there in my teens, when I lived up that way. Dunno of any in Preston though...

The trouble with online is the carriage costs.

In Tesco try the World Food aisle or the one that has all the oriental sauces etc. You'll find turmeric there 99p for 100g

                          Have a look at http://www.yelp.co.uk/search?find_desc=Asian+Supermarkets&find_loc=Lancs%2C+Lancashire

There's a Wing Yip in Manchester, which if it's anything like the one down here is a place that's really worth a visit. Mine does turmeric at 59p for 100g.

You've what looks like an interesting shop on your doorstep https://dailuoman.wordpress.com/chin...re-in-preston/

I used to work in Mancheter and the Chinese Quarter was amazing for cheap weird stuff.

                            Thanks
