  • what's that white stuff?

OMG!!!!!!!!! A frost Can't remember when we last had a frost - that's my sweet peppers finished then They had done so well to keep going until now. But at least the parsnips should taste good after a frost The blueberry that I planted the other day is now frozen in time. Just moved it into the sun to warm the poor darling up. Also a beautiful orange/red rose is also frozen in bloom.

      Welcome to the real world!!

      awww...sorry about that- couldn't resist!

It's so frustrating isn't it- had you been aware, then at least you could have covered them.
      Bet it looked pretty though???

You should have seen all my panicking thread on how to cover etc. We was actually really lucky and didn't go below 5 degrees. But the OH still thinks i am crazy for tucking in the plants
I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

Yup - minus five here last night.
On the other hand all the CWB caterpillars and blackfly on the nasturtiums should be toast!

Gorgeous squirrel pic. Love how acrobatic they are at getting some food.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.

that will teach me for not looking at the weather forecast before bedtime Yes it was pretty. I remember in December 2009 (our first winter here) that the evening of December 12th it was raining slightly - then on waking up the next morning there was between 6-8 inches of SNOW!!! It was what Christmas cards were made of. We were stuck for about 3 days.

You are welcome to them. They may be entertaining but they scare all the birds and scoff their food. I'm going to vaseline the pole tomorrow! That should be fun.

Oh for a twelve bore to take out the parakeets. They are evil. They do so much damage.

Same goes for the badgers. They destroy bees nests. Haven't seen a hedgehog for years and I suspect a badger disembowelled one of my fox cubs.
