  • Is there any hairdresser on here?

I am going to try an dye my hair for the first time in a decade.
My hair is very different now, i have dreadlocks and am going to try just dying one at the back first to see how it turns out.

If it is ok am i able to dye all over in a week or so or should i leave for a while longer. Also how quickly do i need to use up the mix solution(dye)

All the instructions are in Spanish so struggling a little, i am using nutrisse garnier. Their website is not that helpful.

Thank you for any help in advance

You had me in a panic then! When I read the title of your post. I thought you were going to cut your dreads off
But as you are just dying your hair...........carry on that man what colour you going?
    Sorry I can't help, I don't go near hairdressers and I don't dye. I'm to bl@@dy tight

Thats why i am doing it myself i am far too tight

I have always been blonde, but the dreads are really hot and heavy in the summer so i always have it tied back so a lot of it has gone quite dark but a lot of the ends were it hangs loose is its normal blonde so trying to even it out a bit.

I am bored on a saturday anyway so need something to do

the only thing i can suggest is,try an end on one bit, just to see how it performs, like color test, penetration of the locks and rinsing it all might be a bit of a nightmare, also may need more than 1 pkt of die, depending on length and thickness, good luck with it,you say it's heavy in the summer,so concider the extra weight of the wet die for the time tis left on,

From SWMBO. First thing to do is an allergy test, very important. Mix a small amount of solution and apply a small dab behind the ear, leave for 48 hours to ensure no reaction. This is not a fail safe but a very good indicator.

The solution when mixed does not usually keep, it loses it strength. Under no circumstances try to keep the solution in an airtight bottle it may start to give of gas.

This bit will disappoint but......... SWMBOs opinion...... with a hair style like yours she would not would not dream of doing it herself for the first time in 10 years she would bite the bullet and go to a professional.

Lisa, dont forget the ends of your hair are more porus so will soak up more hair dye and will be a brighter/deeper colour.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,

I am not a proffesional hair dresser but I have a wide experience in shearing sheep, so am willing to have a bash if required.
