well, im sitting here listening to the house getting a battering from high winds, I think the fence in the back garden might be down, and i cannot see my 2nd greenhouse up the garden. (hoping its just too dark).

Hope you all are safe and your property is still intact in your gardens, allotments and other various places.

Stay safe all. Its blowing a hooly.!

Its been wild here all afternoon. A side panel blew out of a coldframe but I haven't been down the garden to check on the trees. I stay away from them when its windy.
Hope your GH and fence are still there in the morning, seasprout.
      Take care everyone!

Wheelie bins blowing all over the place here, and the street light has gone out.

My wheelie bins over as well! Takes a fair gust to blow one over, even when they're empty.

Trellis supporting mix of clematis / honesuckle is also down. Not venturing far enough to know where the compost bin lids might be

It's weirdly calm here, especially after we were promised hurricane force winds, maybe tomorrow or maybe we've somehow escaped the worst.

                Stay safe everyone.

Um. My next door neighbour passed me in the street today whilst I was talking to somebody else and mentioned the fact that the fence was dodgy. My problem is that I replaced the fence about 5 years ago even though it was technically her responsibility. This is because I know it's my responsibility to contain my dogs.

I had a look at it today and the middle 2 panels and the post between them are falling over. On the other side that fence is the same, and I am responsible for that side. So it looks as if both neighbours are looking for me to replace both fences.

The point of this is that Barney will not have helped.

usually unless its on the deeds most fences are classed as party fences, so you own a 50% share of each.

Just tell her this and you did it last time so its now her turn now

On our deeds in the UK the fence to the left of the back garden was the property of each house.
So certainly worth looking at the deeds.
Don't some insurance policies cover fencing????

Very calm here...no breeze at all!...either we have been bypassed or it's the lull before the storm.

It was mad here last night, I was worried about my old GH as the window doesn't shut properly, I can't reach it either so I sent the OH to fix it before we went to bed! He tied it shut with some string All's good this morning

Just seen the headlines...looks like we've missed it....but it still looks crazy on the radar map.

Hope everyone is safe, and those without electricity get it back soon.

My blow away grow tent is in the opposite corner of the garden now, frame all over the place, thanks Barney (good to have a name, although in my head I think of the purple dinosaur!) Luckily my little blow away didn't move,so the Brussels sprouts are fine. All the plants are fine,i just went out there, one rocket plant fell out a pot,but il eat that later. I might put the big blow away in the shed for the winter or I could attach a basket to the bottom & go air ballooning around Braintree?

It was really stormy last night. I kept fretting about the polly but it was fine this morning - luckily it is in a sheltered corner behind the garage. One of the bird tables was knocked over by the wind and some pots were blowing round the garden but that was all. It sounded much worse than it was.

Not sure if that's why our Internet was down yesterday. Maybe.
LOVE growing food to eat in my little town back garden. Winter update: currently growing overwintering onions, carrots, lettuce, chard, salad leaves, kale, cabbage, radish, beetroot, garlic, broccoli raab, some herbs.
