    I won´t do this and might end up with a crop of potatoes around the rose plant but thought it might be useful to someone

    I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

      Not sure there's much point in that potato thing. Rose cuttings root easily in sandy soil / compost, just take a nice juicy ripe cutting in late summer / autumn and bury the bottom two thirds. A year on and you've a nice plant.
