    Pond plants for wildlife, any recomendations?

    I was meant to be putting in a pond this year but just didnt get round to it, I only just managed to buy the pond cast and aquatic compost.
    So, the pond is going to have nothing in it as its just going to be a resting/breeding ground for anything that comes along, hopefully some frogs really. What plants would you guys recomend? The pond cast is about 2 foot deep and has the area of about 2sq meter but the cast itself is going to be in a space that is 3by4 sqm so plent of room for any types of plants.
    I am wanting some dense plants for critters to hide in.

    My thoughts on this, would be to find out which plants are bad for your pond like duckweed and parrot feather both of which are highly invasive and will smother everything else if it gets the chance.

    I can't really advise what you should get, as all I have is a lily (and too much duckweed) and need to acquire more plants next spring.

      I was also going to suggest water lilies, beautiful when in flower.

        I would go water lilies also. Also some grasses
        Will you have some fresh water being moved, as you could do some watercress and use it in the kitchen as well
        I grow 70% for us and 30% for the snails, then the neighbours eats them

          I'd like to build a pond on my allotment next year and would love to have a water lily or two in there As to other suitable water plants it's best to avoid things like Canadian Pondweed (Elodea canadensis) and Parrot Feather as they are pretty invasive and will clog it all up
