  • Netting

Apologies if there is a similar thread anywhere, I did a search and found plenty of references to using debris netting but nothing too specific.

So I have a question... where do people get their debris netting from?

    I've spotted the below

Debris Netting Lightweight 50gsm | Green Allotment Netting Fruit Cage | Crop Protection

...but not sure if it is good value at 2m x 50m for £21.05 + P&P? It seems to be from a quick google search so thought I'd share for advice and also in case anyone else is looking for some!

    Thanks

That's a good price but make sure it's wide enough for your needs. If you are covering say, sprouting broccoli you will need it much wider than 6ft.

Thanks Scarlet, would you suggest losing some length to get extra girth?

Yes, my debris netting is 3metres wide. It does stretch a bit, though my beds are 4ft wide and I wouldn't want it any narrower. It's gives me around a metre high either side of the bed.

I would go for 10ft wide. It will stretch to around 12ft.

That is great, thanks both for the advice and bigmally for the link... 3m x 20m is a more practical size and also better priced so excellent all round

PS I'm looking at manufacturing some 6'x4' raised beds so nice to have an idea of how much height I can get in my netting.

Watch what you buy! Some of the netting sold on eBay is not the same as used on building sites. The netting on building sites stretches a fair bit. I bought some from eBay, no stretch at all, but still useable.

Go for black netting, it looks so much nicer than the green stuff!
