  • Drowning weeds

    Morning!

Having started to tackle the bottom of the plot, I find myself with masses of weeds. Only the best ones of course - bindweed, couch grass, nettles, brambles etc etc (plus a little marestail has started appearing at the top end!!). Rather than spend the petrol money taking it to the dump, I was variously going to bag some up to rot and try drowning some. How long do you usually leave the stuff in water for? And once all stinky and sludgy, can I just dig in the sludge to an empty bit of plot or is it better going on the compost heap?

    Ta in advance!

Could you have a bonfire & then simply spread the ash on your plot ?

I would put some in hessian bags or old pillow cases, then dunk them in barrels of water, let it ferment & give as feed. The rotton remains can then go on your compost heap.
