  • Posting pics... any bright ideas?

I'm tearing my hair out! For some reason my (PC) computer has stopped recognising my (Saumsung) phone so I can't download pics from it. If I try doing it direct from my phone to the GYO website, when I try to select a pic it just jumps me to a 'page unavailable' message.

Can anyone suggest another go-round or something to do? I wanna post on the calendar thread!

Sorry if this isn't the right place to post.

Hi 1Bee - are you trying to upload from a web page on your phone or from the app? if from a web page this could be to do with pop ups - maybe try from the app? I havent tried from the app myself but might be worth a shot

As for your phone - have you tried updating the drivers or software to get it to recognise your phone?

Thanks Vixy, I've had to take apps off my phone to get it to function well (it's naff) so I don't think I can download another app - and I didn't know there was one!

It connected to my computer a few days ago without issues, so I really don't know what it's playing at.

I am unsure of your exact problem but maybe you could try a picture hosting site to upload to instead and copy/paste the link here?

I wonder if you the same as i was,get a little device like the pic,you can get the one that does the same job from the £ shop,i had to buy a memory card for the samsung first, what you do is,take your pics, take out the memory card, insert it into the device, then plug into your USB port, this will transport your pics to your putor, where you can get them onto the vine when wanted, remember to put your memory card back in the samsung, thats how i did this pic, just to be sure i remembered correctly, this procedure drove me nuts,so i got myself a little nikon camera, much better and easier, also only get the new pics come through,NOT everything on your phone twice, then have to work out what to delite as each pic is small and 1 larger,i hope this is of some help, and someone with a teckee brain will make things clearer for you,

Sometimes my pc doesn't recognise my camera because I've plugged it into the pc too soon after turning on the pc,so it's better if I let my pc run for 10 minutes then plug in the USB cable. Or sometimes I have to go to 'computer' it's near 'pictures' on the pc,which brings up the disks & drivers & anything that's connected to the pc,the samsung should be in there? I hope that makes sense?

I e-mail it to my other e-mail address, open on my laptop and save it.

I use an iphone so it may be different?? I have no problems uploading direct from my phone.
Look at this thread - post #28 I've explained to Bramble how to post via phone. Let me know here if you get any problems.

Have you tried e-mail direct from your phone to the desk top?

Just to add, we no longer have an app. There shouldn't be any reason why you can't upload direct from your phone. If you can't upload via the steps I've given in link above. List your problems and I'll try it out on someone's android phone.

The easiest thing I have found to transfer from my Android to the PC is:

                        Thanks everyone.

I think I've given you an unwelcome view into my IT hell....

Lottie, thanks, I'll try that - I think DH's computer has a port for memory cards anyway.

Jane, the problem is it's not appearing in the 'Computer' folder as a connected device. :-/

Thanks Scarlet, I tried that, but the insert file boxes don't load properly on my phone, so they're on top of each other and I can't click on any commands.

If I use the e-mail on my phone, I get locked out of my e-mail account for 24hrs - recurrent problem with BT yahoo mail, which help have been unwilling/unable to solve over nearly a year, with multiple multi-hour help-chat sessions. *shudder*

Thanks Bigmall, I'll check that out in the morning.

I'm reasonably IT literate, but currently I feel cursed.

DH keeps saying get a better phone. He may have a point.

Not sue if this is what you have been doing, terms alter over time:

Try to see if the memory card is seen on the "Explorer" option.
Press the sort of "WIndows" button down between Control and Alt by the space bar and press "e" at the same time.
That displays a view of all the folders/directories/devices, in the form of the "old" Windows File Manager.

It will likely have the name/make of the memory card that you insert into the reader.
If it is there then simply double click the folder icon to open it.

I find on mine that the system can at times not see the memory card for some reason, does the same on some USB memory sticks. I usually do not bother and just pull the whole file system up as described then go locate what picture I want.

Some folders are protected and you cannot select them.
