    casters in garlic and how long to dry garlic

    as above what are these caster i keep finding in my garlic ive found 2 in 2 bulbs so far

    is it onion fly ????

    and once puled how long till they are fully dry? ive had mine hanging for a couple of weeks now as i suffered white rot but some of the stems are still abit green inside so not fully dry yet

    What is casters? Not sure what you mean.

    If you have white onion rot they may not be good enough to dry - mine all went inthe bin. As for how long it takes, I just plait them up and hang somewhere dark and cool. So long as the bulbs have separated I just use it as it is. The inner stem will take longer to dry out completely.

      well i chucked 30 bulbs but these 10 looked ok all my onions i had to chuck

          Oh, the allotment near me suffer badly with that. I'm seeing it more often. Netting is the only option. Can you save any of the cloves? Perhaps split them now and mince, jar and cover with white vinegar to preserve? Or mince and freeze in small portions?

            Just to add that even though you cant see the mould, it's likely that they have it. They often don't keep so preserving is probably your best option. That is if the leaf miner hasn't left too many presents.
